The Law Offices of Thomas Stahl is a boutique family law and estate planning firm based in Columbia, MD. We're seeking an associate attorney to join our collaborative, fast-paced practice and help deliver high-quality representation to our clients.
About the Role:
We're looking for a candidate with litigation experience, ideally in family law. Experience in estate planning, probate, or estate litigation is a strong plus.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload spanning family law, estate planning, guardianship, probate, and estate litigation.
- Draft motions, pleadings, discovery requests, financial statements, and other legal documents.
- Take depositions and affidavits of clients and witnesses.
- Conduct and analyze legal research.
- Manage shifting timelines and competing priorities across multiple active cases.
- Set and manage client expectations throughout the representation.
- Support other case types as needed.
Qualifications:
- Admission to the Maryland Bar required; DC Bar admission a plus.
- Minimum 1 year of litigation experience, preferably in family law.
- Experience with estate planning, guardianships, probate, or estate litigation a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with case management software, Clio preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
